Prairie Girl

Norway Mountain

Where are you Prairie Girl
And what are you doing here
Maiden of the flat land
With hardly a risen knoll
What are you doing up here
High on a mountain side
In far away Norway
A land of steep mountain peaks
True the view is magnificent
But you are terrified
Norway folk climb nimbly
With daring and naught a fear
But this is hardly the place
For a timid Prairie Girl
With timid Prairie feet
Enjoy the view they say
The air is cool and crisp
Admire the soaring crags
Glory in the pristine glaciers
And hear the tumbling waters
Roar over the silver falls
It’s beautiful, breathe taking
Compared to your golden wheat
But this is hardly the place I’m sure
For a timid Prairie Girl
With timid Prairie Feet!

NEW NEIGHBOR

Robin Gets The Worm

Something wonderful
Is happening to me
A brand new family
Has made their home
Near me—in my tree
The father dark and regal
Blinks a curious eye
Puffs up his ruddy breast
Watches me pass by
Guards his home
His tree!
