I saw the apple blossoms fall
They swept along the garden wall
Of palest pink, the faintest hue
Kissed by sun and morning dew
Tiny ballerinas dancing
Celebrating joyful spring.
I had a yellow dress
When I was but a child
A golden shaft of sunlight
It always made me smile
I saw it in the catalogue
Oh Mother! Can I have it?
I do so want it, please?
She did, she found the pennies
It came by mail one day
It was a joy to wear it
All that golden summer
I don’t recall it fading
It must have got too small
But, Oh! It made me happy
My golden, sunshine dress!
