A LOVER’S EMBRACE

file000867052387

There are
Mother hugs
Father hugs
Sister and brother hugs
But, oh, there is nothing
Like a lover’s hug
It floods
One’s heart and soul
With warmth, love and joy
Cheek to cheek
Heart to heart
Arms enfolding
Gently protecting
Reassuring, healing
A lover’s embrace
Is purest grace.

BROWN BOOTS

file1481335110831

My scruffy brown boots
Are faded and worn
But still shield my feet
From rock and from thorn

They are cracked and they’re old
And slightly askew
With worn down heels
But still they will do.

They welcome each day
And make it complete
Those well trodden soles
Brown boots on my feet.
